Coach Trae is entering his 3rd season coaching in the state of Oklahoma and as a Bixby Spartan.  This is his 10th season as a football coach.

Before joining Bixby, Coach Trae spent five seasons at Sandra Day O’Connor in Phoenix, AZ as the Offensive Coordinator for the 9th grade team. In his final season with the program, he worked as the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. He spent five seasons coaching track while at the school, where he helped win 2 individual state championships in the 100m and 200m and break all sprint school records.

Coach Armstrong is from Phoenix, AZ, where he played football and ran track. In High School, Coach Trae was a 2x all-state running back and 9x state champion, winning the 100m and 200m as a sophomore, 100m, 200m, 400m, and 4x400m as a junior, and the 100m, 200m, and 400m as a senior.

Coach Trae is a 2017 graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where he was a 13x All-Big 12 sprinter and 2x All-American. Coach Trae graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree from the College of Arts and Sciences.

Coach Trae is married to Natasha, and they have two daughters, Za’riya (14) and Aaliyah (11).  Their newest member, son Junior, was born in January.
